	My husband was killed in the USS Cole bombing in Yemen (October 12, 2000.) We had attended the Marriage Encounters weekend in November of 1998 in Virginia Beach, VA. I can't tell you how thankful I am that we went that weekend. God had completely arranged for us to be able to go. I still have the notebook he wrote to me in, and I am so thankful for that! We learned things about each other that we never knew before. He told me things about how I made him feel and how important I was to him... things I never knew he felt. We had always communicated, but we weren't understanding what the other was trying to say. That weekend changed that cycle for us. I would encourage anyone to try this program. 	Kenny and I attended the marriage encounter this last week end in Kansas City. It was a great time for us to share and inhance our relationship and communication skills. We learned to listen with our hearts not just with our heads. We had a good marriage already but this enabled us to inhance it to a higher level. 	My wife and I attended a Marriage Encounter the weekend of March 8-10 in Indianapolis. I was not interested and was even a little belligerent at my wife wanting to go. I expected it to be a weekend of being told that I needed to “shape up and fly right”. I was relieved to discover that it wasn’t a weekend of husband bashing, but instead a weekend of getting to know each other all over again (and falling madly in love again). By the time the weekend was over I had made a lot of new friends; the most important of which was my wife of nearly 19 years. The changes in our lives (plural) have been dramatic and wonderful. Most importantly, the changes have been to both of us. Our hearts and marriage have been refreshed and renewed. I now wish we had attended an encounter weekend long before we actually did. 	We attended our Encounter Weekend In October 1998 and have been involved in this Marriage Changing, Marriage Enhancing, Marriage Blessing ministry since then. We marvel at how God shows up and works in ways we know not possible in the lives of the couples in attendance, to Him it doesn't matter where the couples are in their own relationship with each other or with Him, He orcastrats the entire weekend and miracles began to happen. The entire weekend focuses on the couples attending, they focus on each other, and everyone receives a blessing. We are so greatful for our weekend, we believe every married couple deserves to attend a Marriage Encounter weekend and encourage Pastors,Deacons, Elders everywhere to attend. 	Our first encounter weekend was throught the Catholic church in the late 1970's and we attended an AG weekend in the late 1980's. We would recommend an encounter weekend for every married couple!
